During the 2004-05 season, the Rangers played 51 competitive games. They entered the season hoping to reclaim their Scottish Premier League title, which Celtic had won the previous season. Manager Alex McLeish made many summer additions. The most notable of which being Frenchman Jean-Alain Boumsong. Strikers Dado Prso and Nacho Novo, as well as seasoned midfielder Alex Rae and future Ibrox favourite Marvin Andrews autographs, were among the others.

Rangers League form started slowly, with only 8 points from their first five games. Rangers slipped behind Celtic in the league after losing the first Old Firm game of the season 1-0 at Celtic Park. Rangers’ form improved after the loss to Celtic, and they didn’t lose in the league again until April. This run includes two victories over Celtic in November, one in the League Cup and one in the League. They also halted a bad run of results at Celtic Park in February with a 2-0 triumph.
Rangers trailed Celtic 2-1 at home in April, leaving them five points behind with four games remaining. On the final day of the season, Celtic led by two points and were winning 1-0 against Motherwell, but two late goals for Motherwell, along with Rangers’ 1-0 win over Hibernian, saw Rangers win the title, Helicopter Sunday.

Rangers also won the League Cup this season, defeating Motherwell 5-1 in the final. Rangers were knocked out of the Scottish Cup in the third round, losing 2-1 to Celtic autographs.
Rangers Memorabilia entered the UEFA Cup after losing to CSKA Moscow in the third qualifying round of the Champions League. Rangers qualified for the newly constructed group stages after defeating Maritimo in a penalty shoot-out. Rangers did not advance beyond the group stages, though, as a 2-0 setback at home to Auxerre saw them leave Europe before Christmas.
