Nirvana is an American rock band that formed in 1987 in Aberdeen, Washington. Kurt Cobain autographs, lead singer and guitarist, and Krist Novoselic, bassist. Founded the band, which went through several drummers, including Chad Channing. Before bringing in Dave Grohl in 1990. Nirvana’s Autographs success helped to popularise alternative rock, and they were sometimes regarded to as Generation X’s figurehead band. Their music has a passionate following and has had an impact on modern rock culture.

Furthermore, Nirvana were part of the Seattle grunge movement in the late 1980s. In 1989, they released their first album, Bleach, on the independent record label Sub Pop. They created a sound centred on dynamic contrasts, with quiet verses and booming, heavy choruses. After joining to major label DGC Records in 1991, Nirvana gained unexpected global success with “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” the first single from their breakthrough second album Nevermind. (1991). Also, Nevermind, a 1990s cultural phenomenon attributed for putting an end to hair metal’s reign of terror.

Nirvana’s fusion of pop melodies and noise, combined with themes of abjection and social alienation, propelled them to global stardom. After extended tours and the 1992 compilation albums Incesticide and Hormoaning, Nirvana released their highly anticipated third studio album, In Utero (1993). The album received critical acclaim and debuted at the top of the US and UK album charts. Nirvana disbanded after Cobain’s suicide in April 1994. However, Novoselic, Grohl, and Cobain’s wife Courtney Love have all handled posthumous releases. At the 1996 Grammy Awards, MTV Unplugged in New York (1994), a posthumous live CD, won Best Alternative Music Performance.
