Kiss is a New York City-based American rock band founded in 1973 by Paul Stanley (vocals, rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (bass, vocals), Ace Frehley (lead guitar, vocals), and Peter Criss (drums, vocals). The group rose to notoriety in the mid-1970s with shock rock-style live performances that included fire-breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars. Launching rockets, levitating drum kits, and pyrotechnics. The band’s roster has changed multiple times, with Stanley and Simmons remaining the only constants. Stanley, Simmons, Frehley, and Criss were the original and most well-known lineup.

The band members took on the personae of comic book characters with their makeup and costumes: the Starchild (Stanley). The Demon (Simmons), the Spaceman or Space Ace (Frehley), and the Catman (Criss). Criss left the band in 1980 and Frehley in 1982 due to creative differences, though both would return subsequently.

Additionally, Kiss began performing without makeup and costumes in 1983. Ushering in the band’s “unmasked” era, which would remain for more than a decade. During this time, the band experienced a commercial rebirth. With the Platinum-certified album Lick It Up successfully exposing them to a new generation of fans and their music Autographs videos gaining frequent MTV airplay. Eric Carr, who had taken over for Criss in 1980, died of heart cancer in 1991. And replaced by Eric Singer. In 1996, the original lineup reunited in response to a wave of Kiss nostalgia in the mid-1990s. Which also saw the return of its makeup and stage costumes.

Besides, It would embark on its final tour, the End of the Road World Tour. Which began in January 2019 and is scheduled to end in 2023.
