John Mayall, OBE (born November 29, 1933) is an English blues singer, musician, and songwriter with a career spanning over six decades. In the 1960s, he formed John Mayall Autographs & the Bluesbreakers, a band comprised of some of the most notable blues and blues rock musicians of the day.

Mayall was born in the Cheshire town of Macclesfield in 1933 and grew up in Cheadle Hulme. Murray Mayall, a jazz musician, was his father. At a young age, he was drawn to the sounds of American blues performers such as Lead Belly, Albert Ammons, Pinetop Smith, and Eddie Lang, and he taught himself to play the piano, guitars, and harmonica.

Mayall was sent to Korea as part of his national service and bought his first electric guitar in Japan while on leave. Back in England, he enrolled at Manchester College of Art. And became a member of the semi-professional band the Powerhouse Four. After college, he acquired a job as an art designer, but he continued to play with local musicians. Also, he came to London in 1963 to pursue a full-time musical career. His prior experience would be useful in designing the covers for many of his upcoming releases.

With Eric Clapton autographs as their new guitar player, the Bluesbreakers gained substantial attention in 1965. The band recorded two tracks for a single in July, “I’m Your Witchdoctor” and “Telephone Blues” (released in October). Clapton, on the other hand, travelled to Greece in August. Bluesbreaker guitarists John Weider and John Slaughter perform. With a group of relative musical novices called as the ‘Glands.’ Before Peter Green took control, all of them tried to step in. John McVie sacked, and Jack Bruce from the Graham Bond Organisation. Filled in on bass for the following three months.
