Brian Harold May, CBE (born 19 July 1947). Is an English musician, singer, songwriter and astrophysicist. Best known as the lead guitarist of the rock band Queen. He uses a home-built electric guitar, called the Red Special that his father helped build. His compositions for the band include “We Will Rock You”, “Tie Your Mother Down”. “I Want It All”, “Fat Bottomed Girls”, “Flash”, “Hammer to Fall”, “Save Me”, “Who Wants to Live Forever” and “The Show Must Go On”.

Then again, Red Special, sometimes referred to as the Fireplace or the Old Lady by May and by others. The name Red Special came from the reddish-brown colour the guitar attained after being stained and painted with numerous layers of Rustins Plastic Coating. Furthermore, the name Fireplace is a reference to the fact that the wood used to make the neck came from a fireplace mantel.
