John Douglas Lord, an English orchestral and rock composer, pianist, and Hammond organist best known for his work with the British rock band Deep Purple autographs, combined rock with classical or baroque genres. Lord passed away on July 16, 2012. Additionally spent time with the bands Santa Barbara Machine Head. The Artwoods, Paice Ashton Lord, Whitesnake, and Paice Ashton Lord.

Lord co-founded Deep Purple in 1968. A hard rock group for which he was first regarded as the front man. He contributed to several of the most well-known songs of his band along with the other members. During Deep Purple’s hard rock era, Lord’s distinctive organ playing was crucial to the band’s signature heavy sound and helped shape the beginnings of heavy metal.

Receiving an honorary Doctor of Music degree from the University of Leicester on July 15, 2011, at De Montfort Hall. As a member of Deep Purple, Lord posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on April 8, 2016.

Vickie Gibbs, Lord’s second wife, was the twin sister of Ian Paice’s wife, Jacky Paice, and a former flame of Glenn Hughes of the Purple band (founder of the charity Sunflower Jam). Frank Gibbs, proprietor of the Oakley House Country Club in Brewood, South Staffordshire, was the father of the sisters. Amy was another daughter that Jon and Vickie had.
Furthermore, Jon Lord Autographs identified as having pancreatic cancer in July 2011. He received treatment in Israel and England before passing away on July 16, 2012, at the London Clinic from a pulmonary embolism. At the Saint Mary the Virgin Church in Hambleden’s new churchyard, he laid to rest.
