English musician Ian Anderson Paice (born 29 June 1948) is best known as the drummer and lone surviving founding member of the rock group Deep Purple. He is frequently mentioned as one of all-best time’s drummers. He continues to be the only member of Deep Purple autographs to have played on every album and at every live performance since the group’s founding in 1968.

Paice born in Nottingham before relocating to the south as a young child. At age 15, he acquired his first drum set. He joined his father’s dance band in the early 1960s and started his professional career on the drums. Georgie & the Rave-Ons, the first band he was a part of, issued their first single with the 17-year-old Paice and George Adams before changing their name to the Shindigs.
